Hepatitis C May Be More Common In People With Tattoos

A a new study published online January 12, 2013 in Hepatology found a link between hepatitis C and tattoos. Researchers found that those with the virus were nearly four times more likely to have a tattoo. Researchers asked nearly 2,000 people about their hepatitis status and body art at outpatient clinics in New York between 2004 and 2006. The article notes that although it found a link between body art and hepatitis C, the study did not establish a direct cause and effect.
